Have you ever daydreamed? You know, like when you were in school and the class just wasn't interesting to you... your mind would drift and you would start to daydream about something else. The classroom disappeared for those few minutes, you felt like you were really in that scene inside your mind... until the teacher called your name and brought you back into the classroom!
Have you ever experienced road hypnosis? You know, like when you were driving your car on a familiar route and your mind wandered. You became so absorbed in your thoughts that you didn't even realize you weren't paying attention to driving anymore... until several minutes later when you came back to the reality of driving and thought to yourself, "How did I get here already... how long was I driving without paying attention?".
Well, if you've ever experienced either of these things... you were in a state of self-hypnosis! Your conscious mind stopped analyzing everything, it took a quick break, and your subconscious mind opened up to you, allowing you to discover some other thoughts in a way that felt somewhat real.
We all go into various states of self-hypnosis every day. Even when you watch a good movie, like an action movie... or play a video game. You get so wrapped up in the movie or the game that you start to feel emotions and get excited or nervous... you feel as though the characters really are in danger... you feel almost as if you are there. Its not real, but it all feels real at the moment. Well, when that happens, you are also in a state of self-hypnosis.
All hypnosis is a state of self-hypnosis! When you work with a hypnotist like me, you are just allowing me to guide you through your self-hypnosis. Its like having a relaxed daydream but its being guided by me. You are always still in control, you can wake up if you really want to, and you won't do anything that you wouldn't normally want to do either. You might be thinking, "But I've seen people do some weird stuff with stage hypnotists...". Yeah, I have too, and guess what? The few people who end up being the only ones on stage doing funny stuff are the people who really want to be doing funny stuff! There is no hypnotist in the world that can make someone do something that they really dont want to do, I promise you.
There are, of course, different techniques for hypnosis depending on what problem we are trying to "fix". As the hypnotist, I do use a combination of science, skill and artistry to help you acheive your desired result. But regardless of the method or technique used, all hypnosis is still self-hypnosis.
Now that you are aware of the basis of what hypnosis is (yes, it really is self-hypnosis), you can feel more comfortable and confident about talking with me about whatever problem or issue you may have, how we can "fix" it, and how you can easily transition into becoming the person that you want to be.
